Finding Safe Used Cars

There are many safety considerations to consider when buying used cars. Not all cars are equally safe just because they have to meet government safety standards. Many cars have safety features that go beyond the requirements. You can learn about your used cars history by getting a Carfax vehicle history report. Another way to find out if your used car is safe is to get safety inspections. Before purchasing any used vehicle you should consider the following safety tips.

The first step is to look into the used cars crash-worthiness. When involved in a crash you should have a vehicle that includes features to help reduce your risk of injury. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has an online site with crash-worthiness ratings.

Structural design of the vehicle is the second thing you will want to consider. Having a strong occupant compartment with a safety cage will help improve the safety of your vehicle. It is also a good idea to get a used car that is designed at both ends to buckle and bend in a crash.

The third thing to consider is the size and weight of the vehicle you are considering purchasing. Serious injury can result if a car rolls over in a crash and roll-overs are more common in small and light cars. However, top-heavy vehicles such as SUVs might also be likely to roll over in accidents.

Once you know which used car you want to purchase then you can make use of safety inspections to make sure you get a great used car. Have a trusted mechanic look over the car before purchase. If the seller doesn’t want to assist you in this then there is a good chance they are trying to hide something about the used car. Between these inspections and a Carfax report you will be sure you are not getting a used car that has been damaged in the past.

The Power of Stretching

Your muscles ache from a good stretch. This is quite normal and is part of the process. Stretching has seemingly been with us and particular with athletes since the beginning of time.

A very key point to good stretching is to hold the stretch for at least seventeen seconds. This is a pearl of wisdom gleaned from a ballet teacher a few years back. She said that any stretch under 17 seconds was just not effective.

The 17 second rule is exceeded in the high intensity Bikram’s yoga where stretches are held for about 30 seconds. Don’t forget the high level of heat that is used in Bikram’s to extract that last little bit of stretch out of your muscles. An interesting twist that is not necessary to gain benefits from stretching. But, it can’t hurt, right?

So what kind of benefits can you expect from stretching? That’s an easy one. Have you ever seen the movie, Blood Sport? Did you know that Frank Dux could truly stretch his body to the extreme. The actor that played him was quite elastic as well.

Great elasticity is also something you might see in well trained Spetsnaz(Russian)agents. They often work out with Russian kettlebells too. They are for superior strength gains and the ability to withstand ballistic shocks.

Why are stretching and flexibility considered important to these people? Stretching gives one the ability to have explosive power available at one’s fingertips without the need to warm up. Of course most of us are not martial artists or agents. But, you’ll be happy to know there are plenty of other benefits.

Let me give you an example. After learning to sit in the full lotus position for long periods of time, my ankles became very flexible. One day I was walking along and my left foot fell into a pothole. This mishap pushed my ankle sideways to about 90 degrees from it’s normal position.

Amazingly, this didn’t even hurt, not one bit. If my ankle hadn’t been so flexible, I may have suffered a sprained ankle. At the very least, it would have hurt for days.

Key point: stretching helps us to avoid injuries. Not only that but if you do have a muscle, tendon or ligament injury it should heal faster, theoretically speaking.

Stretching actually grows the ligaments, tendons and muscles being stretched. They really grow longer over time.

Check with your physician before undertaking any type of exercise, including stretching.

Mark Your Calendars: College Football NCAAF

Mark Your Calendars

By WagerWeb.com and ecobika

After weeks of talking, toe is finally ready to meet leather and kickoff the 2006 college football season next week. The next 14 Saturdays will be overflowing with exciting football to watch. To help your planning and the odds of you winning negotiations with your significant other for TV time, here are the games you don’t want to miss. I’m restricting my list to the games actually played on Saturdays. There are a lot of quality games during the week this season, but since few of them overlap they don’t take much effort to sort out and prioritize.

Sept. 2: Notre Dame at Georgia Tech is the big game of the weekend. It will be a good test for Heisman favorite Brady Quinn on the road against Tech’s tough defense. A game that might tell us more about what is to come, however, is Cal at Tennessee. If the Golden Bears go in to Knoxville and pound the Vols, it will legitimize Cal as a contender for the Pac-10 and quickly turn up the heat on Tennessee coach Phil Fulmer. Keep an eye on Northern Illinois at Ohio State as a trap game for the Buckeyes.

Sept. 9: The rematch between Ohio State and Texas, this year in Austin, should be every bit as important and exciting as last year’s clash in Columbus. The winner comes out of this game with legitimate national championship hopes. Georgia’s hopes of winning the SEC East could suffer a blow if its young team can’t escape South Carolina with a win. If the Gamecocks can pull the upset, they would have a leg up on winning the division themselves. LSU needs to be wary of visiting Arizona. A victory in Baton Rouge would be a coming-out party for Coach Mike Stoops’ Wildcats.

Sept. 16: There won’t be many windows of time loaded with better football than 3:30-7:00 ET on this Saturday. Michigan travels to Notre Dame, LSU visits Auburn, and Miami heads to Louisville, and all games are scheduled to kickoff at the same time. The LSU-Auburn game will be critical toward determining the SEC West and possibly a national championship spot. Miami-Louisville provides a great matchup between the Hurricanes’ suffocating defense and the Cardinals’ unstoppable offense. Michigan-Notre Dame is always great to watch, especially when both teams are strong like they are this year. If you’ve got anything left after those games, check out the Clemson-Florida State battle. The Bowden Bowl could have the ACC Atlantic Division title riding on it.

Sept. 23: Penn State at Ohio State is the best of a relatively weak group of games this week. Arizona State at California is likely an elimination game to determine the primary challenger to Southern Cal in the Pac-10. Notre Dame at Michigan State could be a shootout with two outstanding quarterbacks leading prolific offenses against mediocre, at best, defenses.

Sept. 30: Another light week with only one marquee matchup, Ohio State visiting its toughest challenger in the Big Ten, Iowa. Among the other games, these conference matchups look like the most attractive ones: Oregon at Arizona State, Georgia Tech at Virginia Tech, and Alabama at Florida. All of these schools will likely be heading to bowls, and these games will help determine which ones.

Oct. 7: The annual Texas-Oklahoma throwdown highlights this week. LSU at Florida should also be a critical game Oklahoma will be gunning for revenge after Texas laid a whipping on the Sooners last year and will need to win that game to reach a BCS bowl. LSU and Florida will also be jockeying for position in their divisions and the BCS standings. Nebraska’s visit to Iowa State could decide the Big 12 North division –someone has to win it.

Oct. 14: Florida-Auburn and Michigan-Penn State will vie for the best game of this Saturday. The Gators and Tigers both start the season in the Top 10, and the winner of this game is likely to stay there. Penn State will be looking to avenge its only loss last season to the Wolverines, and both teams will be looking to stay within striking distance of a Rose Bowl bid.

Oct. 21: There’s no single can’t-miss game this week, but there are several good ones. Texas could have some trouble at Nebraska, Boston College’s visit to Florida State could be a determining factor in the ACC Atlantic Division winner, Iowa’s trip to Michigan could have a lot to say about the Big Ten race, and Fresno State’s game at LSU will be one of the last opportunities this season for a non-BCS school to claim a major BCS scalp.

Oct. 28: Georgia’s trip to the Swamp to play the Gators could decide the champion of the SEC East and carry major BCS implications. Miami heads to Georgia Tech trying to avenge the physical beating the Yellow Jackets administered to the ‘Canes last year. This will be Tech’s chance to be a major player in the ACC Coastal Division.

Nov. 4: Virginia Tech at Miami is this weekend’s most important game, with the winner likely claiming the ACC’s Coastal Division. Tennessee will look to improve its bowl standing by knocking off visiting LSU.

Nov. 11: Georgia at Auburn appears to be the only game this Saturday that could impact the BCS. Both teams could be trying to wrap up their divisions and set up a rematch in the SEC Championship Game in three weeks. South Carolina at Florida could be interesting if the Gamecocks are still in contention. Texas Tech’s trip to Oklahoma will also impact the bowl positioning for both teams.

Nov. 18: Many of the traditional rivalry games take place this weekend, but the biggest matchup is California at USC with the Pac-10 championship on the line. Michigan-Ohio State could decide the Big Ten title as it has countless times before.

Nov. 25: One of the must-see games of the year is on this day: Notre Dame at USC. If you watched last year’s game for the ages between these schools, one that actually exceeded the hype, then the only thing you need to know is what time it kicks off. Of the rivalry games this weekend, Florida-Florida State is the best of the bunch.

Dec. 2: This is conference championship weekend. Along with the ACC (my pick: Clemson vs. Miami), Big 12 (Nebraska vs. Texas) and SEC (Auburn vs. Georgia) will be the game that oozes more tradition than any other in college football: Army vs. Navy. The records of those two teams never matter, this game is worth watching.

In addition to these games, there will be ones bubble up during the year that become more important than anyone anticipated. It all adds up to another exciting year of college football, one with a plethora of important games since there is no clear cut front-runner for the national championship.

Genetically Specific Vitamins

The very first genetically specific vitamins have recently been developed and will be appearing in retail outlets. People of different ethnic backgrounds have different metabolic requirements and these new products will specifically target African-Americans, Hispanics and Caucasians with different vitamin blends meeting their genetic requirements.

The concept of genetically specific vitamins is quite new. While it has long been know that different genetic backgrounds experience different health issues, until now no manufacturer has addressed these requirements. By creating compounded that target the prevalent diseases most common to the various ethnic backgrounds, it is hoped that better health can be enjoyed by every heritage and genetically diverse group.

Certain vitamin deficiencies in specific ethnic groups contribute to life-threatening illnesses and diseases. Research studies showed that unique risk factors required unique responses through proper blends of vitamins. These genetically specific vitamins target the risk factors of each group.

Regardless of your genetic background, regular medical check ups, a balanced diet, regular exercise and a healthy lifestyle are crucial to optimal health. The addition of genetically specific vitamins is simply meant to ensure that your body receives all the vitamins and minerals needed.

Research performed by the Mayo Clinic, American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association lead to the identification of the health differences among different heritages. It was learned, for example, that Hispanics and African-Americans were more likely to experience low levels of vitamin D, high blood pressure, stroke and certain cancers. Caucasians are more likely to suffer from osteoporosis and breast cancer than the other ethnic groups.

By creating vitamin compounds that include increased quantities of vitamins that help prevent deficiencies or target diseases most common to an ethnic group, it is hoped that the prevalence of these problems in that specific group will be greatly reduced. These genetically specific vitamins may result in more average numbers when these diseases are studied in the future.

Everyone deserves good health but this research has revealed that the road to optimal health is not exactly the same for each genetically diverse group of people. This new concept of genetically specific vitamins may provide the best means of getting the proper dietary supplementation so that each and every person can enjoy the best health possible.

It is expected that many companies will begin targeting genetically diverse groups with genetically specific vitamins. If you wish to take a vitamin designed for your ethnic group, remember that no vitamin replaces a healthy lifestyle and a balanced diet. However, these vitamins can help maintain the proper functioning of our bodies, regardless of our background.

Branding Blunder-Creative Technology’s Mistakes

Recently I was interviewed by Marketing Magazine, a local magazine in
Singapore that keeps close tabs on the marketing strategies companies of
all sizes use to reach out to their consumers. I thought that this is
an excellent case study of how important positioning, branding and
marketing are for your business.

For their feature story on Branding, the magazine asked for my comments
on Creative Technology’s (renowned for its sound card and MP3 players,
and most recently for its legal tussle with Apple) branding efforts.
While I?m a fan of Creative, I have to say that their branding leaves
much to be desired. In particular, comparing the arch rivals of Creative
Tech’s MP3 players vs. Apple’s iPod, it is easy to see where Creative’s
branding efforts had gone wrong. Below is a simple comparison of its
rival’s branding moves.

Apple
(A marketing and branding savvy company)
1. Understands the target market?young people want to be hip and cool.
So they created a hip and cool positioning for iPod.
2. Very sleek and minimalist cover design?enhancing the hip and cool
image.
3. Great ultra hip and cool TV ad, using black dancing silhouettes (all
the better to contrast with Apple’s corporate white) against a colorful
background + hit song of the moment ?Hey Mama soundtrack performed by
one of the hottest groups, the Black Eyed Peas.
4. Very focused in the beginning, starting with only one color, one
model: The white iPod. This makes it very recognizable and easy to brand.
5. Special edition signed by U2 (very hip and cool band).
6. Featured in many hip TV shows.

Creative Tech
(A tech focused company)
1. Don’t understand their consumers? desires, preferring to focus on
product features, etc (appealing to logic, instead of emotions) and with
no strong positioning.
2. Tacky cover designs. Responding to iPod’s sleek design, they asked
their own engineers to design their new cover design! Huge mistake!
Naming their products ?Zen? doesn’t mean that they will inherit the Zen
essence.
3. Bizarre TV ads that consumers can’t relate to: one series of ad went
along the lines of ’something you really need? and ?Panda Rhapsody?, an
ad using a panda bear listening to its MP3 player.
4. Unfocused and fragmented: Zen Jukebox, Zen Nano, Zen Touch, MuVo
Slim, MuVo TX.. etc (confusing consumers with too many choices)
5. Special edition signed by Creative Technology’s CEO Sim Wong Hoo?
(what?!?)
6. Almost non-existent.

While Creative Technology first came up with MP3 players, they lost out
their pioneer status advantage due to incompetent branding and
marketing strategies. Apple has always been an innovative company when it comes
to technology. But more important than that, it has always been a
company that is close to their consumers, understanding their desires.

On the other hand, Creative has no strong retail experience. Its
earlier massive success, the SoundBlaster, was a technological breakthrough,
but it was not really a retail consumer product. Most people who buy
computers don’t know whether the soundcard inside their CPU is a
SoundBlaster or not. Of course, there are those who demand technological
excellence and insist on having the SoundBlaster. Unfortunately, they form
the minority.

Sadly for a hip product such as an MP3 player, Creative chose to take
the same approach?focusing on technology only, instead of combining it
with a massive branding and marketing campaign. It is important to note
that Creative’s MP3 players have received many awards and critical
acclaims. BUT it sorely lacked the ’street cred?, the approval from the
target market. How many times did you hear someone say ?I really want to
get the Zen / MuVo / Jukebox?? You don’t hear much of that because they
all want an iPod.

That is why Apple’s iPod holds near to 90% market share. Just take a
look at the TV ads from both rivals and you’ll understand what I mean by
Apple understanding the consumer’s mind, while Creative missed it
totally.

So the next time you think that by focusing only on delivering the best
product, you will be guaranteed success, think again. Creating powerful
positioning, branding and marketing strategies for your business can
make a HUGE difference!

College Football Previews MAC Conference West

College Football Previews MAC Conference West
Written by BetWWTS edited by Ecobika sports betting portal

Ball State Cardinals O:10 D:8
Injuries and suspensions led to Brady Hoke’s Cardinals starting out 0-3 last season, but they rebounded and went 4-4 in MAC play, finishing the season on a roll. This year’s team boasts a whopping returning 18 starters — tied for most in the conference. The program under HC Hoke is now in its fourth year and should start to pay dividends. The Offense is nearly intact with 10 returning, giving Hoke his dream offense. Expect it to shine this season and pass the 21 PPG it totaled last year. The Defense is also loaded with veterans and should easily reduce the enormous 38 PPG it gave up in ‘05. The front seven has athleticism, experience, and depth and should top last year’s numbers. The Cardinals face one of the more daunting schedules in the MAC, but they definitely have seasoned players and could challenge for bowl eligibility.

Central Michigan CHIPPEWAS O:7 D:7
The Chippewas had their first winning season since 1998 in what was HC Brian Kelly’s second season. They hope to go bowling this year after improving to 5-3 in MAC play last season. On Offense, the Chipps have seven returning last year’s unproductive offense. Even without its star quarterback, the offense should beat last year’s numbers. Expect running back Ontario Sneed to be even better in his sophomore season and beat last year’s 1065 yards, which he ran up behind one of the best Offensive Lines in the conference. On Defense, the Chippewas have a solid Line as well as one of the most experienced, deepest LB corps in the conference. The only weak link on D is the secondary which has only one starter, and could be a liability at least early in the season. The Chippewas play seven of its 12 games on the road this season, including trips to Northern Illinois and Toledo. They will probably make some noise in the West providing they have a bit of luck and avoid injuries.

EASTERN MICHIGAN EAGLES O:7 D:7
There were a lot of close calls for HC Jeff Genyk’s Eagles last season, with five of their seven losses by 3 points or less, but they again wound up below .500. The Eagles’ Offense did not perform as expected last year, and that was with eight starters. This year, they have a new QB but at least he’ll have some good Receivers and a solid Offensive Line The 2005 Defense was better than a year previous, reducing 42 PPG allowed in ‘04 to 27 PPG last season. Seven from that D return and they have depth, so look for even more point shaving this season. Special Teams looks great as it returns intact. The Eagles are still green, however, and they face the toughest schedule in the MAC this season. There will no doubt be a few more heartbreakers in ‘06.

Click here to bet on all games and view lines and odds .
WESTERN MICHIGAN O:6 D:8 First-year Head Coach Bill Cubit helped the Broncos rebound in 2005, winning seven of their 11 games, and becoming the first MAC team to ever lose eight MAC games the previous year and win five the next. HC Cubit, who received MAC Coach of the Year honors, gets 14 starters back this season. On Offense, the Broncos will rely on some strong recruits and a stud O-Line as they lose their top RB, WR, and TE. They also will be without sophomore QB Tim Hiller who went down with a knee injury in the last game against N. Illinois. On Defense, the front seven could be one of the MAC’s best, and the secondary is seasoned enough to fill the vacated CB slots. The D in 2005 cut 8.5 PPG off its 2004 PPG average and that stat should improve even more this year. Special Teams, which was great last year, returns almost completely intact. The Broncos are among the more seasoned groups in the conference, but because of graduation losses on offense and a tough road schedule, they may not challenge for a bowl this season.

Click here to bet on all games and view lines and odds .

NORTHERN ILLINOIS O:6 D:7 Head Coach Joe Novak’s Huskies have had six straight winning seasons, and one of those ended with a bowl win. They can only blame themselves for missing last year’s post-season, as they failed to bury Akron, which pulled off an upset win in the last 10 seconds of the game. But this could be the year the Huskies win the MAC Championship and go to the Motor City Bowl. On Offense, six return from 2005, when they scored 32 PPG, including seniors QB Phil Horvath and 1st TM MAC RB Garrett Wolfe. They do lose their best WR, but the Huskies will still put up points. On Defense, the Huskies are young but they have some game experience. They gave up just 23 PPG in ‘05 and have seven starters back, so there should be an improvement. The Huskies may have the best kicking duo in the MAC with K Chris Nendick and P Andy Dittbenner, although they lose both returnmen. The MAC Championship loss was tough, but 2006 looks like a very good year. A difficult non-conference schedule includes trips to Ohio State to open the season, and Iowa in late October. Three of five divisional games are on the road, but they host the big one vs. Toledo in DeKalb. The Huskies will remember last season’s disappointment, and if they win the MAC West again this year, they’ll go bowling.

Click here to bet on all games and view lines and odds .

TOLEDO ROCKETS O:8 D:7 Toledo has been the team to beat in the MAC for years, and this season shouldn’t be any different. Head Coach Tom Amstutz has done a great job with a team that boasts six MAC crowns in 12 years and 12 straight winning seasons But Amstutz’s Offense will need to find a new QB to replace quarterback Bruce Gradkowski. RB Scooter McDougle, who rushed for 620 yards in only four starts back in 2004, returns after an injury sidelined him last season. The Rockets are well-stocked with WRs and boast one of the best O-Lines in the MAC. Seven return to DC Tim Rose’s Defense which surrendered only 22 PPG in ‘05. While the front wall has experience, the back seven loses some big players so the D could drop a notch this year. Both returnmen are back but a new FG kicker must fill the gap on Special teams. The Rockets have a challenging schedule that includes non-conference games in Iowa State and Pitt, three of five divisional games on the road, and games against Akron, Kent State, and Bowling Green in the East. HC Amstutz has the experience to guide inexperienced players, so the Rockets should again challenge for the MAC West championship.

Vitamins and Hair Growth

Men and women the world over have long sought out ways to make their hair grow faster, thicker, and healthier. With the onset of so many quick grow formulas and hair vitamins, it now seems to be possible to grow your hair quicker. But do they really work?

How does hair grow?

Hair grows as the hair root, which is embedded in your scalp, produces hair cells. These cells, all locked in the chamber of the root, are eventually pushed out of the scalp. At this point, the hair cells die and a strand of hair is formed. This process continues until the root shuts down production of new hair cells, causing the strand it had produced to fall out. This cycle repeats itself so new hair replaces old hair continuously.

Many different factors affect the rate of growth of your hair. Asians, for example, have hair that grows the quickest at the rate of about 1.3 cm a month. Gender, age, and genetics also determine how quickly one’s hair can grow.

Vitamins for hair growth

Hair is made up of 80 percent protein, so it follows that vitamins with a high concentration of B vitamins and protein will make hair grow quickly. Make sure that the hair vitamin product you buy has B complex, folic acid, and inositol in it. Folic acid speeds up production of new cells and this is extremely important for quick hair growth. Inositol, on the other hand, strengthens the cell membranes and prevents hair from falling out.

However, hair vitamins are not enough to ensure fast hair growth. Having clean hair is a must. The pores through which the hair grows must remain clean and free of blockage. Hair growth treatments usually come with a shampoo because a clean scalp makes the product work better.

Hair Vitamins provides detailed information on Hair Vitamins, Vitamin For Hair Loss, Female Hair Loss Vitamin, Vitamin For Healthy Hair and more. Hair Vitamins is affiliated with Hair Styles.

A Used Car Search Can Be Made Quickly And Easily With A Specialist Motoring Website

A Used Car Search Can Be Made Quickly And Easily With A Specialist Motoring WebsiteSubmitted By: Louis Rix

If you are in the market for a used car then taking the help of a specialist website can make your used car search a lot quicker. A specialist will give you a whole host of tools that enable the individual to find the exact car they want in the shortest time frame possible. Along with this they will provide helpful hints and tips on what to watch out for when it comes to buying and how to get the best out of the search.

One of the biggest assets that are available online is the used car search tool. Usually you are able to search based on the make and model of car and the maximum price you are willing to pay. You can then reduce the cars by putting in other factors such as how many miles the car has on the clock and extras. If you wish to limit the search to your postcode area or within so many miles then you are able to do this too.

However there is more to a used car search and you have to bear in mind certain things when making your search. The first is that some sellers are not as ethical as others and can try to pull the wool over your eyes and one way they do is when it comes to price. In order to be able to get a rough idea of how much the particular model goes for that you are considering, then the search engine can help also. When you have made your search you will have to compare not only the car but also the price and find cars that are in the middle. Avoid any car that seems too good to be true because it probably is and of course any that are asking way above for the car unless there are many additional features that come with the car.

A specialist website will provide you with articles and FAQs relating to used cars and searching for them. A good motoring website will host thousands of used cars online; these are often a mixture of private sellers and used car dealers. All of the cars listed will come with photos of the car on offer, the asking price for the car, whether the seller is a private one or a dealership and will also point out the highlights of the car.

Cars that you have narrowed down are kept in your ?virtual showroom? and you are then able to compare these in more detail once you have finished your search. A specialist will be able to help you to make a used car search much easier but you do have to be aware of some safety aspects when it comes to going to take a look at the car. Never go to meet someone to either look at the car or to hand over cash in any place other than a dealership or their home if you are buying privately. Always get their landline number and not just their mobile, this can be used to check a private buyer is who the say they are. Finally be aware that a specialist website will offer a data check service, this means you are able to find the history of the car.
